Is Health and Wellness Coaching right for you?
What is a health coach and how can you benefit?
You might be interested in improving your health and looking into hiring a health and wellness coach. According to the NBHWC (The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching) health and wellness coaches support clients in activating internal strengths and external resources to make sustainable and healthy lifestyle behavior changes. The NBHWC credential represents training, education and assessment standards, as the NBHWC has collaborated with the National Board of Medical Examiners to provide the board certification. NBHWC health coaches use a client-centered approach wherein clients decide their goals, engage in self-discovery or active learning processes, and self-monitor behaviors to increase accountability, all within the context of an interpersonal relationship with a health coach. The coach has skills and knowledge about health conditions and can work with you personally as well as collaborate with your doctor. Coaches work with clients to improve their health, vitality, and well-being by engaging in behaviors that have been demonstrated to improve health and prevent disease including weight loss, sleep, exercise, stress, cholesterol, and diabetes interventions. Whatever the goal, the health coach works side by side with the client to support their desired outcome.
